○ Ingredients ○ for 4 persons

• 1 kg potatoes
• 250 to 500 g sour apple
• 250 to 500g sweet apples
• 2 to 3 tbsp of Butter

○ Optional ○

• Fried Black pudding or bacon and butter
• Fried onion

Hete bliksem

Hutspot (Hotch Potch)

  • ○ Ingredients ○ for 4 persons

    • 1 kg potatoes
    • 800 g Carrots
    • 500 g Onions
    • Vegetable or beef stock powder/tablet
  • ○ Special tools ○

    • Potato masher
  • ○ Optional ○

    • 200 gram cooked white beans
    • Milk
    • Butter
    • Mustard
Hutspot
  • ○ Preparations ○

    • Peel the potatoes and remove any spots.
    • Cut the potatoes in quarters and wash them.
    • Cut the green tops of the carrots and remove the outside layer.
    • Dice the carrots. Chop the onions.
  • ○ Directions ○

    1. Put the potatoes, carrots and onions with water and stock in a pan with a lid and bring to the boil.

    2. Let it simmer for about 30 minutes until the potatoes are cooked.

    3. Pour off the cooking liquid but reserve some of it.

    4. Mash the potatoes and the vegetables (and the white beans, if used) adding a little of the cooking liquid.

    5. You can also use milk instead of the cooking liquid and you can add some butter.

    6. Season to taste with salt, pepper (and mustard).

    ✽ Originally this is served and sometimes even cooked together with beef.
  • You can also serve it with meatballs and/or smoked sausage.
